Health risks

Bites cause intense itching, allergic reactions and sleep disturbances. Severe infestations can lead to anemia and chronic anxiety.

Signs of infestation

  • Red bites in lines or clusters on skin upon waking
  • Small black spots (droppings) on sheets or mattress
  • Blood stains on sheets
  • Shed skins on the mattress
  • Sweet musty odor in the bedroom
  • Live bugs in mattress seams

Prevention tips

  • Inspect used furniture before bringing it home
  • Use bed bug-proof covers for mattresses and pillows
  • Vacuum regularly around bed and furniture
  • Avoid placing luggage on the bed when traveling
  • Wash bedding in hot water (60 C) regularly
  • Seal cracks in walls and baseboards
